Top 7 spots in seattle for photos!

Friends or family coming to visit you in Seattle? Or maybe you've taken up a new hobby and want to take your new camera out for spin. As a life-long Seattle resident, I have found many amazing places to photograph for fun and with clients. As I have more folks visiting from out of town, I love making recommendations for places to see and find excellent photo opportunities.

Here's a fun list and description of the places I recommend below. All photos by yours truly!

Ferry Ride Views

Take a day and go visit either Bainbridge Island or Vashon Island! The Ferry rides from both of them provide stunning views of either the Seattle Skyline (Bainbridge ride), or Mount Rainier (Vashon ride).

Lincoln Park

This West Seattle Park is near the Vashon Ferry Terminal, and hosts both forest trails and a waterfront trail. Bonus is the Colman Pool which is open during the summer! From there you can enjoy an urban park with amazing trees and trails, or the water view of the Ferry and Olympic Mountains. The water side of the park has a beach filled with rocks and washed up logs to explore.

Alki Beach

Another West Seattle Park with views of the Olympics and the Seattle Skyline, depending on which part you are visiting. You can stop by the Don Armeni Boat Launch area for the Skyline View, or cruise along around the point to the sandy beach and local shops to explore.

Pike Place Market

The iconic market located in Downtown Seattle hosts many fun and fantastic shops and places to eat! It's such a fun place to explore. The newly renovated water side provides areas to take in the views of Eliot Bay, the Olympic Mountains, and yes West Seattle is that land mass in the distance across from downtown Seattle.

 The Space Needle

Yes, I know this is on everyone's list! And for good reason: this iconic spot is in the middle of the Seattle Center where you'll also find gardens, and museums to explore too. Bring your walking shoes and enjoy it all plus a ride on the Monorail to get a truly unique view of the city.

Kerry Park

I think this may be THE Spot for the most iconic view of the city - you'll see both the Seattle Skyline and Mount Rainier from here! This little park is tucked up in the Queen Anne neighborhood, which is a cool place to explore for a dinner or shopping too.

Georgetown

Just south of downtown Seattle, you'll find the oldest neighborhood in Seattle! It was once home to the most taverns/bars in the city, and now hosts many cool places for food, drink, coffee, art and shopping. What I love about this place is how much history it holds, and all of the cool old buildings. Their P-Patch garden is adjacent to Oxbow Park which hosts the old Hat and Boots - an iconic pieces of history!
